What was Good ended Badly; What was Bad ended Well
withdrawing room with Daniel Johnston

23.03. - 04.05.2014

What are we to do with these spring days that are now fast coming on? Early this morning the room smelled like coffee, but if you go to the window now you are distracted by the light as you lean your cheek against the glass pane. The light opens up spaces of the wall where other pictures stood, curling at the edges. The sun is soon to be setting and people out there hurry to get home. Some have prettier clothes and new haircuts. Some are still clumsy in their winter coat. You listen to music, of a flimsier kind, and the radio might also send some news. The flowers in the room now give off a fainter smell. They might disgust you by tomorrow and you might not clear the water. What are we to do with these spring days that are now fast coming on?

Shadows, a letter by Hannah Arendt accompanies the show.

Daniel Johnston is an american musician and visual artist born in 1961 in Sacramento. His drawings trigger old and new concerns about the social, the human and the political life of the self. We have been listening to his music a lot in our teens and we listen still.

Hannah Arendt (1906-1975) was a german philosopher and political theorist.
